QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS
Mayor Steven Meiner believes city government should serve the people who live here — not special interests or outside agendas. That’s why he puts residents’ quality of life at the center of every decision he makes. To keep the focus where it belongs, he created separate commission sessions for developers, allowing regular commission meetings to prioritize resident concerns. Whether it’s public safety, cleaner streets, or flood prevention, Mayor Meiner is committed to putting residents first — always.
A LIFELONG PUBLIC SERVANT
Steven Meiner is a lifelong public servant, devoted family man, and the 39th Mayor of Miami Beach.
Raised in Brooklyn, Steven was inspired by his parents — a public school teacher and an IRS auditor — to pursue a life of purpose and service. That calling led him to a 26-year legal career focused on combating fraud and protecting the public, including nearly two decades as an Enforcement Attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
COMMITMENT TO FAMILY, TO COMMUNITY
Steven moved to Miami Beach in 2007, and quickly became a tireless advocate for his neighbors. First elected as a City Commissioner, he earned a reputation for integrity, independence, and results. From reining in overdevelopment to standing up for law and order, he never backed down from a fight that mattered to residents.

In 2023, Steven was elected Mayor of Miami Beach in a decisive runoff, vowing to refocus city government on what matters most: resident quality of life. As Mayor, he’s increased accountability for repeat offenders, expanded police visibility, championed clean and quiet streets, and taken real action to keep neighborhoods dry and resilient.

Steven and his wife Shanyn have been married for 23 years and are raising their two children, Matisyahu and Michal, right here in Miami Beach. He holds a law degree from Brooklyn Law School (cum laude) and graduated summa cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Brooklyn College.

Today, Mayor Meiner leads with urgency and transparency to make Miami Beach the best place to live, raise a family, and build a future.
